Side Event and Lobbytalks at the 19th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, Geneva, 5 - 7 March 2012
The Action Network Human Rights - Philippines held a Side Event at the 19th Session of the UN Human Rights Council witht the title "Human Rights Defenders against Impunity in the Philippines". The event, which was organised in close cooperation with Amnesty International and Franciscans International, informed more than 60 participants on the current human rights situation in the Philippines.
Expert Conference "Human Rights in the Philippines. Trends and Challenges under the Aquino Government", Academy of Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation, Berlin, 29 - 30 June 2011
On 29 and 30 June, 2011 the Action Network Human Rights - Philippines in cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation organised the expert conference "Human Rights in the Philippines. Trends and Challenges under the Aquino Government". It was the aim of the conference to inform about the current situation of human rights in the Philippines, one year after the President Aquino took office. The panel offered an overview on the legal framework, the degree of implementation and the context in which human rights violations take place. Afterwards, it was discussed what needs to be done in specific areas, such as the security, justice or political sector, in order to fundamentally improve the human rights situation.
